MM2H FAQ
Citable answers for common MM2H questions. Exact deposits and fees belong on the official portal — we point, we don’t freeze stale numbers.
-
What is MM2H?
Malaysia My Second Home is a long-stay programme under MOTAC with immigration outcomes involving the Immigration Department. It is aimed at eligible foreigners seeking longer presence than a short visit pass.
-
Can I apply by myself?
The official portal describes applications through licensed MM2H tour operating companies and the One-Stop Centre — not casual individual DIY filing. Confirm the live process on mm2h.gov.my.
-
What are the financial requirements?
They are category-specific and change. Open the official category overview and guidelines; do not rely on blog screenshots. See our outdated-PDF guide.
-
Does buying property get me MM2H?
No. Property purchase is not automatic stay rights. Some programme categories may include residence-purchase conditions after approval — that is still not “buy first, visa follows.”
-
Can I work on MM2H?
Working / business permissions depend on the official category rules. MM2H is not a generic substitute for an Employment Pass. Read the live category benefits table.
-
MM2H vs PVIP?
Different instruments. Compare purpose, financial posture, and official eligibility side by side — start with our hubs and source map.
-
MM2H vs DE Rantau?
DE Rantau is a remote/digital stay frame under MDEC. MM2H is long-stay residence framing. If you need clear remote-work permission for a foreign employer, start with DE Rantau.

How do I avoid superseded criteria?
Note the URL and date of every PDF you use. Prefer mm2h.gov.my. Re-check the week you file.
