Failure-mode guide
Bank and fixed-deposit proof mistakes
Financial evidence is where many otherwise strong long-stay files stall. This guide is about proof quality and currency — not inventing deposit amounts.
Failure modes
What goes wrong
- Using a bank letter format that matched last year’s blog, not the live programme guide.
- Balances or fixed deposits that don’t match the product type the current notice asks for.
- Statements that omit account holder name, currency, or freeze/hold language when the guide requires it.
- Joint accounts or third-party funds presented without clarifying ownership under current rules.
- Screenshots and mobile-app exports where the official process expects stamped bank letters or specific statement periods.

Decision checklist
- Open the current Tourism Malaysia / MM2H (or relevant) financial criteria — do not rely on memorised thresholds.
- Ask the bank what letter formats they will issue for immigration / programme use, and how long issuance takes.
- Match currency, tenure, and “under lien / fixed” language to what the live guide describes.
- Keep naming identical to passport spelling across letters, statements, and application forms.
- If criteria just changed, assume old letters may need re-issue — superseded thresholds are a top reject pattern.
